Scientific cameras
By scientific cameras, we mean cameras primarily designed for scientific applications such as microscopy or astronomy. In those applications, there are high demands for the camera's sensitivity to light, incomparable to that of cameras designed for a human eye.
The cameras are based on CCD, sCMOS, EMCCD and ICCD chips. Besides imaging and spectroscopy cameras there also are hyperspectral cameras allowing the camera to take an image including complete spectral information for every pixel.
Streak cameras allow observing of ultrafast processes with time-resolution of femtoseconds.
Due to their technology cameras can detect radiation in UV, VIS or IR spectrum, but also VUV, x-ray or gamma radiation (cameras for detection of high energy.)
