Physik Instrumente is expanding its portfolio for precision industrial automation with a new range of high-speed, high-load linear axes. As a result, it now offers cost-effective positioning systems for processing and process control tasks that require high dynamics and long-distance repeatability. These axes are suitable for applications in electronics manufacturing and micro-assembly areas, for sensor testing or for use in inkjet printing processes, among others.

The V-855 and V-857 linear axes are specially designed for industrial applications with high duty cycles and long positioning ranges. The 3-phase linear motors with recirculating ball bearings provide constant loads up to 1000 N, acceleration to 5 m/s² and speeds up to 5000 mm/s. High resolution linear encoders ensure high positioning accuracy with minimal errors. Calibrated bidirectional repeatability of linear stages is ±0.5 µm.

For applications requiring multi-axis arrangements, these linear axis can be easily combined not only with each other but also with other linear stages from PI to create powerful gantry assemblies.

For controlling the V-855 and V-857, PI offers a solution in the form of the G-901 19" electronics rack, which combines the ACS Motion Controller industrial bus with drivers for up to four axes and an integrated "Safe-Torque-Off" (STO) module. Alternatively, modular ACS drivers such as UDMpa can be used in combination with the powerful ACS Motion Controller or third-party solutions.
