Multi-axis positioning system for positioning converters

Positioning of converters from vector analyzer.

In December 2020, we delivered two 6-axis positioning systems - hexapods and their corresponding powerful control units from Physik Instrumente to ROHDE & SCHWARZ závod Vimperk, s.r.o. The delivery also included a breadboard from TMC, on which the hexapods and controllers are placed. This breadboard is characterised by its high flatness, its regular network of mounting threads and its ability to damp and isolate mechanical vibrations.

The hexapod assembly is used to position the converters away from the vector analyzer.

Device parameters

• H-820.D2 - hexapod microrobot enabling positioning in 6 independent axes (3 translational, 3 rotational), range of motion up to ±100 mm / ±60°, high accuracy and resolution in all axes, parallel-kinematic design, freely programmable virtual pivot point, absolute position measurement
• C-887.523 - bench-top compact controller for H-820.D2 hexapod with analog inputs and motion stop function, using vector algorithms and comprehensive PIMikroMove software
• PIMikroMove user software - a set of commands for all positioning systems from Physik Instrumente, with a complete set of drivers for use with NI LabVIEW. Graphical user input interface and the ability to display scan routines
• CleanTop® Breadboard 900 x 1800 x 50 mm with alphanumeric grid, optical board with 3mm thick steel top and bottom plates, top plate flatness ±0.13 mm for the full length of the table. Threaded network hermetically sealed with nylon or stainless steel cups, CleanTop technology, depth of all threads 25 mm
