A technical name for the sensing method of image sensors, typical especially for CCD sensors. This type of scanning takes place over the entire sensor area simultaneously, as opposed to sCMOS sensors, which scan in lines from one side of the sensor to the other (usually from top to bottom) - called Rolling Shutter.
