Repair and overhaul of Coherent CO2 lasers
Coherent CO2 lasers come from the factory with an output power of at least 120% of the nominal power of the model. For physical reasons, it is assumed that every 1,000 operating hours the maximum achievable output power of the laser source drops by 0.5 - 1%. This phenomenon is quite common and applies to all CO2 lasers. Coherent CO2 lasers are therefore dimensioned to deliver at least 100% of their nominal power even at the end of the standard warranty period. Even after the warranty expires, the laser is still fully functional, only the performance gradually decreases at the indicated rate for longer. It is thus a question for each user when the performance of his laser is no longer sufficient for his application.
If the maximum achievable power of the laser source drops below the limit of usability for your application, it is possible to send the laser for refurbishment. Laser refurbishment usually costs 50 - 60% of the purchase price of a new laser source.
Factory refurbishment of a Coherent laser source includes:
- Replacement of all worn parts
- refilling the resonator
- complete diagnostics
- calibration of the laser source
After the factory refurbishment, the customer receives back a refurbished laser that achieves the same parameters as a brand new unit. The refurbished laser is covered by a 12-month warranty.
Coherent CO2 laser refurbishment options
Return replacement - basic CO2 laser refurbishment service. After ordering the service, we will arrange for the equipment to be shipped to the Coherent service depot. After testing, within 15 days at the latest, a refurbished (typically a different piece) or repaired laser is sent back to the customer.
Advanced replacement means that after ordering the service, a new refurbished laser is sent to the customer from the Coherent service depot within two working days. The old or damaged laser is only returned to the service depot after it has been replaced by the customer.
Coherent laser repairs
Depending on the type of fault and the model of laser source, laser repairs can be carried out either on site at the customer's premises or the laser must be sent to the service depot. In the case of sending the laser to a service depot, the repair is usually a refurbishment of the laser source in exchange for a new refurbished laser, see above.
Calibration of Coherent meters and sensors
If you order calibration of your equipment, Coherent will provide much more than just calibration.
Gauge and sensor calibration includes both calibration and minor repairs. This means that in addition to calibration, Coherent will replace damaged components and reconfirm that the product is capable of operating to the same specifications as when it was new. In addition, eligible products are covered by an extended 12-month warranty after recertification. This is the same 12 month warranty that is provided on a brand new product.
Most calibrations are completed within five working days (not including shipping time) and expedited service is available to ensure customer downtime is truly minimal.
Calibration of Coherent laser power meters and sensors includes:
- Calibration to original uncertainty levels
- minor repairs *
- extended 12 month warranty on eligible products
- fast calibration.
* Minor repairs include repair of manufacturer defects, hardware, firmware, software updates, damaged connectors and other minor repairs. Minor repairs do not include replacement of detector components due to laser damage and damage caused by user negligence.
Recertification of Coherent laser meters
Coherent's laser power and energy meters are precision instruments that are capable of providing highly accurate measurements as well as many years of useful service. In order to maintain this high level of performance and ensure compliance with quality and ISO certification, it is important to have your measurement system inspected and recertified annually.
As the world's largest manufacturer of lasers, Coherent's calibration equipment includes the widest possible range of light sources from 193 nm to 10,600 nm with powers from nanowatts to kilowatts.
For equipment calibration, Coherent uses in-house facilities that are fully accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 by ANAB - The ANSI National Accreditation Board.
