We have included a new addition to our range from Coherent - the Axon FL add-on, which enables easy fibre coupling of the Axon 920 TPC laser for use in the rapidly growing field of Mini2P microscopy. Mini2P is a method that enables high-speed two-photon imaging of brain activity in free-ranging animals. Axon FL addresses the previously missing commercial option of connecting the Axon 920 TPC via a standard fiber, thereby facilitating its integration into existing Mini2P workflows without the need for third-party collaboration.
Axon FL allows seamless switching between free beam and fiber output, offers vertical mounting to save space, and uses a standard FC/PC connector for fast and reliable fiber handling. It also includes an integrated AOM for power management and tunable GDD precompensation to optimize the quality of femtosecond pulses during fiber transmission. Passive cooling and the absence of ASE noise contribute to the high signal-to-noise ratio that is crucial for high-quality imaging in long-term experiments.
Axon FL specifications include a mean wavelength of 920 nm, pulses shorter than 160 fs, output power of 250 mW per fiber, and a repetition rate of 80 ±1 MHz. The product is fully compatible with existing Axon 920 TPC lasers when upgraded to the extended GDD range (-40k fs² to +80k fs²).
