  • Thulium lasers can be used to remove tumours of the urethra, bladder, ureter and kidneys, or urinary stones
  • Easy insertion of a surgical fibre optic using an endoscope
  • The wavelength of the thulium laser has a higher water absorption coefficient compared to Ho:YAG lasers, which means that water absorbs the energy of the thulium laser approximately four times more than the energy of the Ho:YAG laser. This results in better ablation of cells that are predominantly composed of water.

A veterinary clinic was looking for a thulium laser for its operations that would meet its requirements and be more affordable than current commercial solutions primarily designed for human medicine. Among the surgeries being considered were removal of urinary and kidney stones, as well as soft tissue or nasal cartilage surgery.

Our solution

After consulting with the customer, we selected a suitable and affordable OEM continuous thulium laser and integrated it into the one box system. The main work then consisted in creating a user-friendly and clear control interface that allows to set the output parameters of the laser, including pulse mode and storage of individual working profiles.

  • SMA output connector for connecting surgical fiber (surgical fiber not included)
  • Control via touch screen colour display with graphical interface
