The COHERENT AP 530 S laser system is an automated freeform surface treatment system for texturing, marking and functional modification of implantable medical hardware of any shape. The Coherent AP 530 S laser system includes an ultra-short pulse laser, a six-axis robot and enhanced 3D vision for automated part handling and complete coverage of all surfaces and support for post-processing verification. Batch part insertion provides longer unattended process times, eliminating operator intervention and errors.
The AP 530 S laser system is the ideal system for surface texturing, which promotes better osseointegration and vascularization of orthopedic implants and components. It simplifies the creation of deterministic (i.e., not random) surface patterns for improved functionality. The system may optionally include a laser marking subsystem for unique device identifiers (UDIs) to track and verify parts from manufacture to implantation.
