Modular photoluminescence spectrometer with dual monochromators and advanced TCSPC electronics
450 W Xe lamp for steady-state measurements and a set of picosecond pulsed diode lasers (375 nm, 405 nm and 510 nm) for time-resolved fluorescence measurements
HS (High Speed) photomultiplier with 230-870 nm sensitivity and response width below 250 ps for fast process measurements & standard photomultiplier with 200-900 nm sensitivity
The client's brief was for a device to measure steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence in real time. The instrument had to have a guaranteed sensitivity of more than 30 000:1, powerful Czerny-Turner dual monochromators with a focal length of at least 2 x 325 mm and a spacious sample chamber. The fluorimeter must also contain the following excitation sources: a xenon lamp with a minimum power of 450 W for steady-state measurements and a set of picosecond pulsed diode lasers (with outputs at 375 nm, 405 nm and 510 nm) for time-resolved fluorescence measurements using the TCSPC method. The specification parameter was a thermoelectrically cooled sample holder.
Our solution
For this task, we chose the FLS1000 modular fluorimeter with dual monochromators, an Xe discharge lamp, a set of pulsed laser diodes (375 nm, 405 nm and 510 nm) and two photomultiplier tubes with TE cooling. In addition to measuring steady-state luminescence spectra, this highly sensitive instrument can also monitor fluorescence lifetimes using the TCSPC technique. The fluorimeter includes a cooled cuvette holder.
