Microscope ProteusQ

The ProteusQ™ quantum microscope from Qnami is the first scanning NV (nitrogen-vacancy) microscope designed for analyzing magnetic materials at the atomic level. It combines single quantum spin-based sensors with scanning probe microscopy (SPM) techniques, enabling simultaneous measurement of sample topography and surface magnetic fields with nanometer resolution. This system opens up new possibilities in the characterization of advanced magnetic materials, 2D structures, and spintronic devices.

Key features

  • Single spin quantum sensor
  • Motorized AFM system for precise 3-axis positioning (5 × 5 × 15 mm³)
  • Closed system with ultra-low drift
  • Quick tip replacement and easy antenna access
  • Electronics for ODMR spectroscopy (2.5–3.5 GHz)
  • Extremely low noise – 0.1 nm RMS in the XY plane
  • Software with auto-track function and scripting

Product description

The resolution of the magnetic image in the ProteusQ system is determined by the distance between the NV center and the sample surface, while the accuracy of the topographic measurement is influenced by the radius of the probe tip. This combination enables simultaneous recording of both data layers with high spatial correlation, providing new insights into the magnetic properties of materials.

The system uses stable optical architecture and high-precision capacitive sensors that minimize drift even in long-term measurements. Thanks to the single photon counting module, it can capture even the faintest signals from NV centers, ensuring high sensitivity and reproducibility of results.

ProteusQ is designed as an open platform for future expansion – it allows the integration of new features, upgrades to electronics, and expansion of measurement capabilities. In combination with Qnami's proprietary quantum technology, it gives users the ability to "see" magnetic structures and changes that were previously unattainable by conventional methods.
