Coherent has introduced Sapphire XT, a new platform of medium-power visible lasers based on proven OPS technology. The new product is available in wavelengths of 488 nm, 532 nm, and 561 nm, with each variant offering 1 W of output power.
The Sapphire XT is designed as a compact solution with an integrated controller. Its footprint is comparable to that of a smartphone; compared to previous models, it doubles the power output while reducing the overall size by more than 50%.
Another key advantage is direct electrical modulation, which reduces the need for external components such as acousto-optic modulators. This simplifies integration into both laboratory and OEM systems, reduces system complexity, and helps optimize costs.
The platform targets applications that require precisely selected wavelengths, higher power, very low noise, long-term stability, and high reliability. Key application areas include super-resolution microscopy, DNA sequencing, quantum imaging, holography, and semiconductor applications. Sapphire XT also supports optional coupling to single-mode or multi-mode optical fiber.
