About Rofin

Founded in 1975 in Hamburg, Germany as SINAR Laser System Verkaufsgesellschaft mbH, Rofin-Sinar soon became one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-performance industrial laser machines and components.

In 1987, Rofin was taken over by Siemens and in 1996 it was spun off again to become an independent company. Over the years, Rofin acquired other laser manufacturers, including DILAS Diodenlaser, Baasel Lasertech, Z-Laser S.A., Corelase Oy and Optoskand AB, until its acquisition by Coherent in 2016.

The acquisition of Rofin has enabled Coherent to gain access to Rofin's extensive expertise in materials processing solutions and expand the range of applications it can serve.
