In November 2016, we installed a Hamamatsu Quantaurus-QY compact spectrometer at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry to measure absolute quantum yield of luminescence, emission and excitation spectra, and color. The instrument will be used to study photoactive hybrid materials.
The Quantaurus-QY uses an absolute quantum yield method and therefore does not require measurements with a reference standard. The individual components of the instrument(150 W Xe lamp with motorized monochromator, integrating sphere, cooled multi-channel CCD detector, electronics) are integrated in a robust protective housing. Its main advantages are high measurement speed and easy operation. It is suitable for different sample types (solutions, powders, thin films). Liquid samples can be cooled with liquid nitrogen up to 77 K.
Main components
- Excitation: 150 W Xe lamp with motorized monochromator (spectral range 250-850 nm, bandwidth ≤10 nm)
- Integration sphere (3.3 inch diameter, spectralon material)
- Detection: cooled CCD detector (sensitivity range 200-950 nm, spectral resolution
- Dewar vessel for measuring absolute quantum yields at low temperatures (liquid nitrogen cooling to 77 K)
