Cost-effective COHERENT PowerLine FL laser series

Discover Coherent's cost-effective modular subsystems for a wide range of laser welding tasks in e-mobility, consumer electronics and medical devices.

The new PowerLine FL Series subsystems integrate the fiber laser with optional scanner, cooling, machine vision and process monitoring, all controlled by the powerful Coherent Laser FrameWork software, to simplify and accelerate production fiber laser welding. At the heart of our new range of laser subsystems is a single-mode fiber laser with output power up to 1500 W in a highly focusable beam. The laser can be operated in either CW or pulsed mode from single pulses up to 5 MHz. Together with a range of scanner options supporting working areas from 55 x 55 mm to 260 x 260 mm (and larger on request), the PowerLine FL can thus be optimally adapted to a wide range of welding applications.

Process control options include vision system and workflow monitoring functions. All PowerLine laser parameters and functions are controlled via the Coherent Laser Framework, our integrated software platform that simplifies operation, increases productivity and simplifies machine integration into the production line. Industry 4.0 (IIoT) compatibility is also integral, including data logging for production traceability.

PowerLine FL is available with the SmartWeld+ application package, which uses precise beam "oscillation" to create welds with precisely defined seam shapes and cross-sections with maximum accuracy and minimum heat input. These welds are required for joining dissimilar metals and temperature-sensitive materials even in very thin forms, including copper-copper and copper-aluminum welding. This is needed in applications such as e-mobility (e.g. battery welding), consumer electronics, medical devices and watchmaking, as well as in several other high-tech industries.

The availability of this powerful laser subsystem from a single supplier allows integrators to build machines and entire production lines faster without the hassle of compatibility of individual system components and subsequent simpler setup by the user.
