Coherent, comes up with new products for automotive and electric vehicle manufacturing. These innovative welding heads offer improved laser processing capabilities and bring a range of technical parameters and features that contribute to increased productivity and precision in the automotive industry.

The first new product is theHIGHtactile laser welding head. This powerful head features an all-new patented seam tracking technology that can be easily configured for highly automated fillet welding and brazing. With built-in sensors and a wide range of features, the HIGHtactile laser head is easily configured and optimized for a variety of applications. With a power output of up to 8 kW, it enables highly efficient fillet welding and brazing of aluminium and steel. The combination of high precision and processing speed thanks to sensors enables increased productivity and reduced production time.

The second new product is the HIGHmotion 2D laser welding head. The HIGHmotion 2D laser welding head combines high performance capabilities, extreme versatility, a wide range of sensing options and machine learning intelligence. The HIGHmotion 2D head enables deep copper welds of more than 3 mm thickness while maintaining a large working area of up to 100 x 140 mm in a 1.5x magnification configuration. HIGHmotion 2D is ideal in applications where processing heads must move quickly around the workpiece to complete multiple welding operations.

The HIGHmotion 2D laser welding heads combined with the Coherent HighLight FL-ARM laser source are unmatched in the industry, as they allow for not only the deepest copper welds over the widest working area, but also the greatest weld penetration control and minimal spatter that the laser source's ring modes allow simultaneously. The combination of the HIGHmotion 2D laser welding head and the HighLight FL-ARM laser source significantly increases welding performance, reduces overall operating costs, all while maintaining very high quality and reliability of operation.

The Coherent HIGHtactile and Coherent HIGHmotion 2D laser welding heads will be showcased for the first time at Laser World of Photonics, taking place in Munich, Germany, from June 27-30, 2023.
