PPMS is an automated system for measuring magnetic, electrical and thermal properties of materials such as specific heat, magnetic AC and DC susceptibility and electrical and thermal transport properties (such as Hall and Seebeck effects etc.). The manufacturer is Quantum Design, one of the world leaders in cryogenic and superconducting measurement systems.
The basic PPMS unit consists of a cryostat with a superconducting magnetic coil. A wide range of measurement possibilities is provided by the use of different measuring inserts or sample holders or software modules.
