PPMS is an automated system for measuring magnetic, electrical and thermal properties of materials such as specific heat, magnetic AC and DC susceptibility and electrical and thermal transport properties (such as Hall and Seebeck effects etc.). The manufacturer is Quantum Design, a world leader in cryogenic and superconducting measurement systems.
The Versalab variant is a compact and mobile PPMS system with minimal site infrastructure requirements. It is a 'Cryogenfree' system, i.e. a system that does not require liquid helium refilling. The system uses a two-stage pulsed cryo-cooler, both for the superconducting magnet and for sample temperature control. It is an efficient low-vibration system for measuring samples with lower operating costs.
The VersaLab system sample chamber is compatible with PPMS and PPMS Dynacool sample holders.
