Applications and challenges
The assembly of certain industrial equipment, such as components or precision mechanics, requires a dust-free environment. However, these parts often have to be assembled in ordinary production halls or workshops where dust is naturally generated by the surrounding operations. The main challenge is to create a local clean environment in the middle of such a hall without costly structural modifications. At the same time, practicality must be maintained – it must be easy to bring materials and even larger machines into the clean zone.
Our solution in practice
We addressed this situation for a customer who needed to set up production of sensitive parts for hydrogen refuelling stations directly in an existing dusty workshop. Instead of complex modifications to the entire hall, we built a separate enclosed cell measuring 3 × 3 m on site. A Spetec ceiling flow module with a HEPA filter inside ensures ISO 5 cleanliness. The system maintains a constant slight overpressure inside the cell and the air is pushed out through grilles, so dust from the surrounding workshop has no chance of getting inside. We equipped the cell with double doors for easy transport of equipment, its own washable floor and lighting.
