Modular fluorimeter

The client's brief was for a modular fluorimeter with the possibility of future expansion with accessories for low-temperature measurements, an integrating sphere, a UV light source, a laser for time-resolved phosphorescence and an absorption detector. The instrument had to have a guaranteed sensitivity of greater than 35 000:1, powerful dual monochromators with an undesired stray light suppression level of at least 1:¹⁰¹⁰. The specification was to include accessories for the measurement of liquid samples in cuvettes, powders and thin films.

For this assignment, we chose the FLS1000 modular fluorimeter with upgraded dual monochromators, Xe discharge tube, electronics for steady-state and phosphorescence lifetime measurements, and a TE-cooled photomultiplier. The fluorimeter includes accessories for measuring liquid samples in cuvette, powders and thin films.
